City .Tanager further roported abandonment of this portion of East Fuller <br />Street is shown in the Redwood City Downtown Development Plan and that Traffic <br />Pureau strongly recommends against any extension of Fuller Street tc connect with <br />Veterans Poulevard because of the proximity of the Brewster and Middlefield inter- <br />soctions, which would in effect create another 5 Points situation. He stated Staff <br />recommends Council_ authorize abandonment which would be no expense to City as County <br />had agreed to relocate all utilities. <br />Councilman Granger stated his approval of promotion of City -County relationships <br />and reminded Council of efforts made to keep courthouse in Redwood City and there- <br />fore, moved to authorize; City "Tanager to proceed with preparation of proceedi.nFs to <br />initiate abandonment of portion of Fuller Street as requested by County, seconded <br />by Councilman Herkner and carried.. (IMINUT7 ORDER 4'66-61) <br />Councilman Royer left the meeting: at 10:30 P. H. <br />City Manager reported Park and Recreation Commission had approved the preliminary <br />plans for the proposed multi-purpose building and recommended that Council authorize <br />architect to proceed with the preparation of the working drawings. He also <br />reported a special meeting of the Architectural. Review Committee had been called <br />to review preliminary plans and had also unanimously approved plans as submitted, <br />their only question having concern with parking lot proposed in front. <br />Mr. Bernard Nobler presented illustrated sketches as <br />building will appear and described details. He parti- <br />cularly described parking lot in front of building and <br />proposed because of outdoor facilities planned at rear <br />of building and .-lack of access for further construc- <br />tion at rear should parking lot be enlarged at this <br />point. <br />Councilman Petersen moved to authorize architect to proceed to prepare working <br />drawings. Councilman Granger questioned whether motion should be amended to <br />include Park and Recreation Commission approval. City Manager assured Council <br />letter was on file indicating their approval of preliminary plans as shown. <br />Motion seconded by Councilman Granger and carried.
