<br />total support of .recommendation made by Park and Recreation Commission for honoring
<br />Andrew Spinas in view of his long service to community. Councilman Nerkner felt
<br />suggestion made concerning naming of a park in honor of Ampex Corporation should
<br />be considered at another time.
<br />Councilman Harkner reported on recent ARAG meeting he had attended and of the huge
<br />amounts of money that had been approved for various cities under the Federal pro-
<br />gram for park and recreation, sewer system, and transportation, and his feeling
<br />C'ty should attempt to participate in this program before program money depleted.

<br />Councilman Herkner, Chairman of Transportntion Committee .reported concerning proposals
<br />for bus line subsidies, in which review was made of history of Peninsula Transit
<br />lines, their curtailments of service in City with further reductions due, and
<br />analysis made of the transportation system by the Citizens Transport. -tion Committee.
<br />Ropnrt further reviewed intention of Peninsula. Transit Company to again seely
<br />reduction of service or secure a substantial subsidy, their proposal for such
<br />subsidy being $1,200 monthly to December 1966, $1490 during 1.967, and an antici-
<br />r.•atnd higher figure in 1968. Peninsula Transit Company also reported that, Palo
<br />Alto was supplying busses and 13n,000 a year for the Palo Alto operations. Review
<br />made of Committee's decision th^t proposals from Peninsula Transit wore unaccept-
<br />able as to both proposed reduction of service and proposed subsidy. Rocommenda-
