He also spoke about the options of <br /> franchising. Vice Mayor Gee thanked the members of the Utilities Commission for all <br /> their work on this front. Motion carried by unanimous electronic vote. <br /> 9. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br /> A. City Council Member Report of Conferences Attended <br /> B. City Council Committee Reports <br /> C. City Manager (Oral) Update <br /> Dr. Bell noted that he is "fighting the good fight" when it comes to affordable housing <br /> funds and the City is holding on to $10 million to keep for Redwood City. He is going to <br /> Sacramento to meet with the Department of Finance this Friday and with members of <br /> the legal department to make a case to keep those funds. <br /> He also noted, that regarding being stewards of public funds, on the Consent Calendar <br /> there was a salary freeze that the Executive Team agreed to. He appreciated that this is <br /> modeling some of the behaviors we expect from other agencies. <br /> He spoke about the upcoming storms and staff is examining options regarding flooding <br /> and it is a multi-jurisdictional approach. He said the environmental work has begun. <br /> Dr. Bell said that the Library was recognized with a five star rating and it was the only <br /> top rated library to receive such rating in San Mateo County and in California. He is very <br /> proud of this fact. He also announced the toy drive and provided details for the wrapping <br /> party as well. <br /> Council Member Bain said he was very saddened by the loss of the young lady and he <br /> is touched by how this community comes together in these sad moments. <br /> 10.
