Adopt a"Resolution of Local Support" authorizing the filing of an application for <br /> funding assigned to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, committing the <br /> necessary non-federal match, and stating the assurance to complete the Middlefield <br /> Road Streetscape Project. <br /> 2. Authorize, by motion, the City Manager to execute related grant documents and <br /> accept funds for the Middlefield Road Streetscape Project, if awarded. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> On January 14, 2011 the City of Redwood City (City) responded to the Transit Oriented <br /> Development (TOD) Housing Incentive Program call for projects by the City/County <br /> Association of Governments of San Mateo County (C/CAG) with two applications, one <br /> for 640 Veterans Boulevard (Dodge Dealership Development site) and one for 2580 EI <br /> Camino Real (Mel's Bowl site). <br /> On March 10, 2011 the C/CAG Board of Directors committed to program the following <br /> incentives to the City of Redwood City as part of the 2011 Transit Oriented <br /> Development Housing Incentive Program: <br /> •$494,000 incentive for 640 Veterans Boulevard <br /> •$258,000 incentive for 2580 EI Camino Real <br /> On August 3, 2012 the City confirmed to CCAG that both projects had been approved <br /> by the City and that they were under construction. <br /> ANALYSIS <br /> In February 2013, the City Council of Redwood City identified the Middlefield <br /> Streetscape Project as the intended recipient of the $752,000 from the TOD program. <br /> MTC requires that project sponsors adopt and submit resolutions supporting the <br /> projects; these resolutions are due to MTC by July 2013. <br /> The Middlefield Streetscape Project is a follow-on project to the planned <br /> undergrounding of the utilities scheduled for 2015-16. The total estimated cost of the <br /> streetscape project is approximately $6.6 million. In addition to the requested grant <br />
