Park and Recreation Commissfon Page 3 Minutes of March 28,2007 ITEM 5 - STAFF UPDATES Park Standard and In-lieu Fee Ordinance Director Centeno reported that the General Plan Amendment to establish a standard would be considered by the Planning Commission on April 3�d. If they support the recommendation, staff will go out to the development community for specific reactions to the in-lieu fee ordinances. The input would go back to the Council Finance Committee in May for their recommendation to the full Council in June of 2007. In Progress Capital Projects, Red Morton Synthetic Turf Fields Superintendent Hover provided the Commission with an update on the project noting the legal negotiations regarding the turf product meeting specifications, extending the warranty period and monetary credits. He responded to questions as to the expected life of an artificial turf field and how the City plans to set aside money for its replacement when that period is reached. Pet Parade Commissioner Joseph-Hover provided an update on the Pet Parade scheduled for June 2"d in and around Theater Way in Downtown Redwood City. She noted that both Chris Beth and Jodi Fernandez have been extremely helpful along with volunteer Rosemary Fischer. She noted the Peninsula Humane Society has expressed an interest in sponsoring the event in the coming years and that they would have their adoption van and spay and neuter van available at the Parade. Lastly, Redevelopment has agreed to pay for up to 1/3 of the Pet Parade costs.
