PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, APRIL 25, 2007 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Slusser, Vice Chairperson White, <br /> Commissioners )oseph-Hover, Sargent, Swope, Truscelli and Wright <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Civic Cultural Commissioner Jason Newblanc, Vince <br /> Truscelli <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Director Corinne Centeno, Superintendent Gary Hover, <br /> Superintendent Chris Beth, Administrative Assistant Denise Monroe <br /> Chairperson Bob Slusser called the regular meeting of the Park and <br /> Recreation Commission to order at 7:30pm in Room 5 of the Community <br /> Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> The minutes of the March meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> There was no correspondence. <br /> The following items were taken out of order: <br /> ITEM 2 — REVIEW AND APPROVAL DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVE <br /> PARKLAND IN PARK STANDARD AND IN-LIEU FEE ORDINANCE <br /> Superintendent Hover referred to his 4-25-07 report to the Commission <br /> asking for input on several issues concerning open space in private <br /> developments. He asked for input on whether any credit should be granted <br /> to developers for private open space, suggested minimum requirements for <br /> such a credit, and then discussed differences in the credit based on whether <br /> it was open to the public or only available to residents of the development. <br /> Commissioner Swope asked and staff agreed to change the language so the <br /> word "use" is not repeated in "useable for active recreational uses". <br /> Staff recommended that "usage for active recreation" be defined as: <br /> i. At least 1.0 acres in size. <br /> ii. Open to residents of the subdivision for recreational uses. <br /> iii. At least 25% of the area is developed with basketball, soccer, <br /> baseball, volleyball, tennis, football, or similar courts. <br />
