Park and Recreation Commission Page 2 <br /> Mi�f�etes of May 23, 2007 <br /> ITEM 2 — REQUEST FROM PLANNING DEPARTMENT TO PROCEED <br /> WITH MASTER PLAN OF UNION CEMETERY <br /> Superintendent Hover said the Historic Union Cemetery Association (HUCA) <br /> and the Planning Department felt there is a need for a Master Plan for Union <br /> Cemetery. He will invite John Edmonds of HUCA and Charles Jany of <br /> Planning to make a presentation regarding this request at the June meeting. <br /> ITEM 4 — SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> -Park Needs Assessment <br /> Commissioner Sargent provided the Commissioners with progress update of <br /> the committee and MIG. <br /> -Park Rules Enforcement <br /> Vice Chairperson White spoke about the committee's progress on researching <br /> park enforcement alternatives. Director Centeno said that several staff <br /> members are investigating the park ranger program at the City of San <br /> Mateo. She announced that the new park rules will be distributed in the City <br /> water bills, through emails produced by Malcolm Smith, through the Park <br /> Pals Program, and emails to our RecNews users. <br /> -Hoover Park Renovation Project <br /> Commissioner Sargent reported the committee has met several times and <br /> are also working with representatives from the Boys and Girls Club on the <br /> renovation project. <br /> -Solari Windmill <br /> Commissioner ]oseph-Hover thanked Superintendent Hover for his hard work <br /> and perseverance and felt the project would not have happened without his <br /> efforts. Superintendent Hover reported that many City staff and community <br /> volunteers have spent many hours on this project and the project has <br /> received many donations from local businesses. He spoke about the <br /> construction process and stated the Solari Family is very pleased with the <br /> project. There will be a community celebration on Monday, May 28 at <br /> 10:OOam at Union Cemetery. Superintendent Hover announced that another <br /> celebration will be held in about 30 days to thank everyone who helped on <br /> the project. <br /> ITEM 4 — STAFF UPDATES <br /> -Pet Parade <br /> Superintendent Beth reported on the progress of the event and invited <br /> everyone to attend the June 2 event. Commissioner ]oseph-Hover also <br /> spoke about the event and asked if any of the Commissioners would like to <br /> be a judge at the event. Commissioners Wright and White volunteered to <br /> assist. <br />
