Park and Recreation Commission Page 3 Minutes of June 27, 2007 -Park Rules Enforcement Superintendent Hover reported our staff met with staff from the City of San Mateo to gather information on their Park Ranger program. A report will be made at the July meeting. -Hoover Park Renovation Project Chairperson Slusser reported about the community meeting held at Hoover Park on June 9. Lots of feedback was received from 20-25 neighbors attending the meeting. Director Centeno commented on the great support received from the Boys and Girls Club on this event. Superintendent Hover stated the architects are currently working on a base proposal and it is expected there will be another community meeting in about one month. -So/ari Windmill Superintendent Hover reported the shingles have been installed on the outside of the windmill and the roof will soon be completed. ITEM 4 — STAFF UPDATES -Pet Parade Staff reported the event was well received and estimated that 800 people were in attendance. -Park Development Ordinance Director Centeno reported that she and Superintendent Hover attended the June 18 meeting of the City Council Finance Committee. She stated the Committee is recommending a 50% fee, to exempt affordable housing, to remove additions from the fee and to perform a Nexus Study on commercial. It was noted that the Park In-Lieu fee, the Park Standard, and the Needs Assessment will be heard at the August 13 Council meeting. ANNOUNCEMENTS Commissioner Swope stated that she and Commissioner Sargent attended the Park and Recreation Commissioners Forum on May 24. She said they were interested to hear what other cities are doing as well as discuss shoreline amenities and artificial turf.
