ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> Commissioner Distefano requested that this evening's meeting be dedicated <br /> to the memory of Martin Johnson of Gibson Environmental, the company <br /> that funded one of the summer concerts last year. <br /> Geri Mayers spoke about her grant request for the Miss Redwood City <br /> Scholarship Pageant to be held April 9 at the American Legion Hall. <br /> Chairperson Filippi said the Commission will consider the grant request at a <br /> special meeting to be held later this month. The Commissioners will discuss <br /> the scheduling of the special meeting later this evening. <br /> ITEM 1-MEETING CHANGES AND COMMISSION PROTOCOL <br /> Chairperson Filippi announced he would like the Commission to consider <br /> the following changes: layout of room for the Commission meetings, <br /> adopting a policy of ending our meetings at 9:30pm and requiring the <br /> unanimous vote of the Commission to extend the meeting in 15 minute <br /> increments; moving the Library Program to the top of the agenda; and new <br /> stationery developed for the Commission. He said he would like to discuss <br /> these changes and others at a special meeting to be scheduled. <br /> ITEM 2 - LIBRARY PROGRAMS <br /> Library Supervisor Linda Hedges mentioned that Joe Marchi's program on <br /> the American musical has been well attended by the public and will be video <br /> taped. She noted Redwood City has been selected as one of 30 sites in the Bay <br /> Area to host a Mystery Writers Panel which will be held May 11 at 7:30pm. <br /> Project Read has applied for two grants to help underwrite literacy programs <br /> directed at at-risk youth and adults. Supervisor Hedges said a representative <br /> from the Cultural Commission is needed to participate on the art jury for the <br /> Library. This item will be placed on the April agenda. The following are <br /> activities to be held at the Library during March: <br /> March 9 - Teen Program-4pm <br /> March 14 Project Read Tutor Training - 6-9pm <br /> March 15-Children's Program-Mr. Magician-7pm <br /> March 16-Project Read Tutor Training - 6-9pm <br /> March 19-VITA Tax assistance with basic forms - l0am-2pm <br /> March 22-"The Road To Oklahoma!: The Development of the <br /> American Musical 1865-1943-Jazz, Depression, and the <br /> Talkies"-7pm <br /> March 23-Senior Health Lecture-"The Truth About Cholesterol" <br /> 10:30am <br />
