Since that time the Center has incorporated
and he has retired from Canada College. He mentioned that he and Library
Supervisor Linda Hedges wrote and were awarded a grant from the California
Council of the Humanities for a lecture series. He said the Board of the
Center for the American Musical is interested in sponsoring a six part lecture
series in conjunction with the Cultural Commission featuring individuals
who have contributed significantly to the heritage of the American Musical.
He reviewed the list of possible lecturers for the series and possible locations
for the series such as: Veterans Memorial Senior Center Little Theater, Fox
Theater and Canada College. The Center would do the publicity for the event
and would charge a minimal amount for the series (i.e. $10.00 per event,
$60.00 for the series). He estimated that they could use Canada College at no
charge and would only have to pay $150-$250 for the custodial and lighting
staff. The Center also has a mailing list of 3,000 people which can used to
advertise the event. He estimated the series would begin in September or
October 1994 and would finish in the Spring of 1995. Because of the timing of
the series, there was some question as to which fiscal year this event should
