Discussion regarding Raices de Mexico Performance at Fox Theater <br /> Commissioner Ball reported that she and Commissioner Piulle attended the <br /> Raices de Mexico performance on April 23. It was a great performance, the <br /> music was well done, and the costumes were beautiful. She estimated 500 <br /> people attended the performance. Commissioner Piulle said that Raices de <br /> Mexico refined their performance, the backdrops were well done, it was a first <br /> class performance and it was well received by the audience. Commissioner <br /> Redington noted that in their grant presentation to the Cultural Commission, <br /> the Commission suggested that Raices de Mexico try to obtain additional <br /> funding. He noted that according to their performance program, they were <br /> successful in obtaining other sources of funding. Commissioner Ball said that <br /> there were questionnaires for audience feedback after the performance and <br /> she brought one for the Commissioner's review. Commissioner Piulle <br /> suggested that a written evaluation of the performing group's event was <br /> sufficient and she did not feel that they need to appear before the <br /> Commission in person. <br /> B. Discussion on letter regarding Commission's position on graffiti <br /> Chairperson Filippi said that Councilwoman Daniela Gasparini contacted <br /> him after receiving the Commission's letter to her regarding its position on <br /> graffiti. He asked that perhaps she be invited to a future meeting to discuss <br /> this issue. <br /> ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> -Superintendent Hartman gave each of the Commissioners a flyer for a <br /> "Forum on Graffiti" sponsored by the Santa Clara County Arts Council on <br /> May 31, 1994 in Los Gatos. There will be four panelists and the cost is $6.00 <br /> per person. <br /> -Commissioner Moran said Lathrop House will hold an Open House on <br /> May 14-15 and invited all to attend. <br /> -Commissioner Piulle said she added the 41st piece of City-owned art work to <br /> the Commission's Art Inventory Book which was the piece donated by <br />
