It will begin at Broadway and Main and will end at
Hamilton Street here Santa and other activities will be located.
ITEM 3 -FOX THEATER DISCUSSION
-Evaluation of Overall Grant Program
Chairperson Filippi read a letter from Peninsula Center Stage (PCS) to Raices
de Mexico which asked them to meet together to work on resolving their
differences. He also read portions of a newspaper article regarding some
things that occurred at the November Cultural Commission meeting.
Chairperson Filippi asked Javier Pacheco of Raices de Mexico to report back to
the Cultural Commission with the results of their meeting with PCS. He was
interested to know what criteria PCS will be using to determine if Raices de
Mexico can utilize their facility. He felt the PCS letter to Raices de Mexico
implied their grant was in jeopardy.
Mr. Pacheco said he did not intend to criticize PCS at the November Cultural
Commission meeting but was rather responding to a question asked by the
Commission. He stated Raices de Mexico made statements after their 1993
Fox Theater performance that they wanted to return to use the Fox. Mr.
Pacheco said they did not know what they would do if they were denied use
by PCS to use the facility for their 1995 event. He also felt that a member of
the Cultural Commission should be present at the meeting with PCS.
