He explained they did not
receive a grant they were expecting which would have been used to convert
John Gill into a cultural arts magnet school. As a result, funds must now go
towards other items in their curriculum. Dr. Balderas stated they are looking
for help with funding for arts programs and sports programs at John Gill.
-Betty Moran announced the Redwood City Art Center will be holding an
Open House on Friday, November 17 and will be approaching the Cultural
Commission for a grant to provide entertainment at the event.
The following items were taken out of order:
ITEM 7-CARRINGTON HALL UPDATE
Steve Penna presented an update on the Carrington Hall Restoration
Committee to the Commission. He announced the Sequoia Alumni
Association will be voting on October 24 to fund $13,500.00 for the structural
study. He said the Committee appreciated all the support from the Cultural
Commission and the City Council and said they are looking forward to
proceeding with the project.
M/S Fischer/Piulle: To draft a letter to the Sequoia Alumni Association
stating the Cultural Commission supports the request to
fund $13,500.00 for the structural study.
Motion passed.
ITEM 1-LIBRARY PROGRAMS
Supervisor Linda Hedges announced the Trivia Bee will be held on Friday,
October 13 at Canada College. Forty three (43) teams have entered the Trivia
Bee which is the highest number of teams ever.
