The Northern California Mystery Author's Panel <br /> will be held on May 17 at 7:30pm. The training for the Boards and <br /> Commission members has been changed to May 13 and information will be <br /> forthcoming. <br /> ITEM 2 - PRESENTATION ON AVENUE OF THE ARTS - RUTH WATERS <br /> Ruth Waters explained that "Avenue of the Arts" is a regional public art <br /> exhibition where sculptures are placed at various public locations free of <br /> charge. The art pieces are selected by a juror and are rotated every two years. <br /> This year the art pieces will be on display at sites extending from Half Moon <br /> Bay to Redwood Shores. Ms. Waters said she has been working with the <br /> Architectural Review Board of Redwood Shores Properties, Inc. to locate sites <br /> in Redwood Shores. She explained that the owners of the proposed sites <br /> would be responsible for the general liability insurance and the artist would <br /> be responsible for the damage insurance for the sculpture. <br /> Ms. Waters was asked how the Cultural Commission could become involved <br /> in this project and participate in some aspect of the public relations for the <br /> project. She noted that she located a potential art site in Redwood Shores <br /> which is o`wned by the City and suggested that the Commission might get the <br /> process started to use this piece of property for the next exhibition cycle. Ms. <br /> Waters stated that the Commission could help with an honoraria to the <br /> artists of $200.00 which could help offset the transportation costs of bringing <br /> the art work to the sites. <br /> Commissioner Filippi said he would like to have some type of rotating art in <br /> Redwood City proper and would like �o run the liability issue by the City <br /> Attorney. <br /> M/S Piulle/Moran: To consider monetary support of the "Avenue of the <br /> Arts" project, contingent on the Commission having <br /> funds available, priority #4. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> It suggested forming a sub-committee to work on this project and to research <br /> the process that the City would have to follow to have an art site. <br /> Commissioners Ball and Piulle volunteered to be on the sub-committee. <br />
