,r� Commissioner Filippi said he wished to re-state the motion: M/S Filippi/Fischer: To send a firm letter of condemnation to the City Council regarding the PCS letter about Elena Mori condemning this action and expressing the Commission's disapproval. Roll call vote: Redington-yes, Piulle-yes, Ball-yes, Distefano-yes, Filippi-yes, Fischer-yes, Saye-yes Yes-7 No-0 Motion passed. M/S Filippi/Fischer: To send a copy of the letter to Dennis Lickteig and a copy to the PCS Board of Directors. Commissioner Piulle felt she does not want to see this escalate and would vote no. Commissioner Distefano felt the person involved should hear our displeasure and that they may not hear about it otherwise. Commissioner Ball felt that PCS has had ample time to respond to the letter if they were not in support of the letter sent by Mr. Lickteig. Commissioner Fischer felt we need to be very up front about condemning this action and that the Commission really does not have a choice. Commissioner Saye said he was shocked that this should happen and felt the City Council should take action on this matter not the Cultural Commission. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS Joe Steinfeld felt that during budget time it is important to review our operation. He felt the Cultural Commission does an enormous job on the tiniest of budgets and that the Commission serves an important function to help with the integration of all people, especially foreign born. He felt the Commission should evaluate its cost effectiveness and re-evaluate its budget recommendations to the City Council. He noted that 75% of its budget ($45,000) goes to the Fox Theater for 8 or 9 cultural opportunities per year. He suggested that the Fox Theater should receive $15,000.00 and $45,000.00 should be given to the Cultural Commission and felt that the Fox Theater should be providing matching funds at the very least.
