Penna, Recording Secretary-Don Saye. He noted the Committee members
will be discussing Brown Act restrictions. Mr. Penna stated the Committee
has set a one year cap on this project and they will be researching different
venues but do not want to make this into a Carrington Hall versus Fox
Theater issue. The Committee is working to upgrade a public facility to make
it available to anyone in the community at a reasonable cost. They would like
to develop a plan and have scheduled a tour of the facility on Sunday, May 7
at which they will videotape the facility. The Committee would like to put
money towards a structural study to determine the structural soundness of
the facility. The lowest of three bids for a structural study was received from
DES Inc. at a cost of $26,500.00 and the Committee will be asking the City
Council to fund this study which would take 6 months to complete. Mr.
Penna noted that funds have been received from the Sequoia Alumni
Association. He noted the Committee will be creating a timeline at their next
meeting and although they have set a one year timeline, they would not stop
midstream if they were moving forward with the project.
M/S Filippi/Fischer: To recommend that the City Council postpone granting
Redevelopment funds to any theatrical structure until the
Carrington Hall study is done.
Roll Call Vote: Redington-yes, Piulle-yes, Ball-yes, Distefano-yes, Filippi-yes,
Fischer-yes, Saye-yes Yes-7, No-0
Motion passed.
Carrington Hall will be a regular item on the agenda.
ITEM 1- LIBRARY PROGRAMS
Supervisor Hedges reported that the "Sound Off" at the Library was a big
success.
