Superintendent Hartman announced the Senior Center will be holding a Flea <br /> Market at their facility on Saturday, July 8 and the Accessible Recreation <br /> Program will be holding a Rummage Sale on July 7-8 at the CAB. <br /> Superintendent Hartman gave the Commissioners copies of letters addressed <br /> to Mike Church and Mayor Gasparini from the Sequoia Union High School <br /> District regarding a request for Redevelopment funding for Carrington Hall. <br /> These letters will be discussed under Item 6 - Carrington Hall. <br /> Returning to Correspondence: <br /> Commissioner Filippi asked that two corrections be made under Item 2 in the <br /> June minutes. In the second sentence, "62%" should be replaced with "52%". <br /> In the fifth sentence, the word "Commission's" should be replaced with <br /> "cultural". ' <br /> M/S Ball/Piulle: To accept these corrections to the June minutes. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> ITEM 1 -LIBRARY PROGRAMS <br /> Library Supervisor Hedges announced that 107 people attended the June 7 <br /> lecture given by Professor Denise Erickson on Gustave Caillebotte. It was well <br /> received and she mentioned there will be a major exhibition of his work this <br /> fall. Supervisor Hedges mentioned the Summer Reading Clubs are in full <br /> operation and that the Library is very busy this summer. Free craft time for <br /> children is held every Thursday afternoon at 3:OOpm. T'he Library activities <br /> schedule for July is attached. <br /> ITEM 2-BALLET PROGRAM WITH SCHOOLS <br /> Commissioner Fischer stated she spoke with Ruth Woolf of the Redwood <br /> City Elementary School District regarding the proposed ballet program. Ms. <br /> Woolf suggested that informational packets be sent to each principal in early <br /> August and to follow up with a phone call to determine their interest in the <br /> program. She also suggested that perhaps a short presentation about the <br /> ballet program could be made at the District's Principals meeting in mid- <br /> August. Commissioner Fischer said a cover letter needs to be developed to <br /> accompany the proposal. She felt the Cultural Commission could be a <br /> facilitator in the process although we cannot provide the entire funding for <br /> the program. She explained that Ms. Bena wants to do an adult ballet and use <br /> those dancers to teach in the school ballet program. <br /> M/S Piulle/Filippi: To develop a cover letter to accompany the ballet <br /> proposal and to have the Cultural Commission endorse the <br /> concept of a ballet program in the schools. <br />
