Commissioner Fischer said she was impressed with the video of the ballet
program Ms. Bena developed for the Burlingame School District and felt this
could be shown at the School District presentation. Commissioner Distefano
said she will be reviewing this video with a few of the Port Commissioners.
Commissioner Filippi asked how much funding the Reno Redevelopment
Agency is providing to the ballet company and if it was possible to have
Redwood City do the same. He suggested Chairperson Redington contact
Mike Church and Dave Schricker to determine if this could happen in
Redwood City. Commissioner Fischer confirmed that the logo of the ballet
company would include the courthouse dome.
Motion passed.
Commissioners Fischer, Distefano and Saye will meet to develop ideas that
need to be incorporated into the cover letter. The packets will need to be
mailed out by early August.
The following items were taken out of order:
ITEM 4- FAMILIES ARTS DAY FUNDING REQUEST
Supervisor Hannon had Families Arts Day flyers available for each of the
Commissioners to hand out in the community. She also reviewed a list of
scheduled performers for the event and stated that the total cost for all seven
performing groups is $775.00.
M/S Filippi/Fischer: To fund $775.00 for Families Arts Day.
Supervisor Hannon explained that Target Stores gave a grant to the San
Mateo County Arts Council which in turn funds this program. The logo on
the Families Arts Day flyers was permanently adopted for this event. Press
releases have been sent out to advertise the event. The Commissioners asked
if a banner could be placed downtown to advertise the event and if the flyers
could be sent out in the water bill next year. Supervisor Hannon asked the
Commissioners to sign-up for blocks of time to work the information booth
at Families Arts Day.
Motion passed.
ITEM 5-CONCERT PROGRAM
Supervisor Hannon passed around a sign-up sheet for the Commissioners to
designate which concerts they would be hosting.
