, M, . ...., , .-, . ..... .... .
5.) To develop funding guidelines for a process that would be implemented
for the 96-97 budget. These guidelines would be presented to the Council at
some point during the 95-96 year and adopted for utilization for funds
requested for the 96-97 year. They would include a calendar and marketing
procedures that would be equitable and available for all cultural groups
seeking funds from the City/Commission.
6.) To inform the City Council that the Commission would most likely be
requesting an increase in their overall budget for 96-97.
7.) To separately submit (as has already been done) the request for $15,000 for
public art acquisition for the Red Morton Center; this should not be included
as part of the regular Commission budget but funds should be allotted from
some other source.
Commissioner Filippi explained that $30,000.00 will be earmarked for PCS for
one year only and that PCS will be following the same grant procedure as all
other groups. The Commissioners expressed
their need to know when the PCS production year begins and for what fiscal
year the productions are funded. Commissioner Fischer felt that the
$30,000.00 funding for the PCS should remain where it is and did not think
the Cultural Commission should become involved in this funding process.
Chairperson Redington said he would check with Corinne Centeno to
determine when the funding/production cycle begins.
M/S Saye/Ball: To accept the proposed recommendations listed in the
memo dated July 6.
Motion passed. (Yes-6, No-1)
The Commissioners discussed who would be available to make the
presentation to the City Council on Monday, July 10. It was decided that Vice
Chairperson Piulle would make the presentation.
Vice Chairperson Piulle spoke about the art acquisition for the new Red
Morton Center and her efforts in obtaining information on potential art
work. Architect Mark Schatz suggested wall hangings for the large interior
lobby wall in the facility and artist Helen Weber was contacted regarding this
project. Ms. Weber sent color pictures representing her work and a diagram
of where she envisioned placing the art in the new facility. Her art work is
