� � <br /> for the event. Commissioner Saye announced the Peninsula Celebration <br /> Association held a 4th of July window decoration contest for downtown <br /> businesses. First place winner was Schneider's; second place was Bit of <br /> Country and third place was St. Regal Jewelers. <br /> -Commissioner Ball commented on the colorful 4th of July decorations on <br /> the County Courthouse. She also attended the Miss Redwood City Pageant <br /> and felt it was very well done. <br /> -Chairperson Redington attended the first Open House at the Art Center and <br /> said it was very nice. He thanked the Redwood City Almanac for the picture <br /> of the Art Contest winners on the front page of their paper. Chairperson <br /> Redington noted that the dome on the old courthouse is lighted in the <br /> evenings. <br /> ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> -Commissioner Filippi asked that Focus '95 be placed on the August agenda <br /> with Architectural Advisory Committee on Mural Policies and Percentage for <br /> Art listed under this item. He asked if it was legal for the Commission to <br /> require Commission-funded groups to provide 2 free tickets per <br /> Commissioner to a performance. <br /> -Commissioner Piulle reported the time capsule will be put in the lobby of the <br /> new City Hall and will include a picture of the Cultural Commission. She <br /> asked the Commissioners for ideas of other items to include in the time <br /> capsule. She said she would like to have a contest among school children <br /> with the theme "What Redwood City will be like in 50 years" and include <br /> those entries in the time capsule. She will try to work with a creative writing <br /> class to complete this project. Commissioner Piulle mentioned that an <br /> announcement of our concerts have been heard on local radio stations. <br /> -Commissioner Ball suggested having a concert at Terremere Field at Sequoia <br /> High School to draw a larger group of people. <br /> -Commissioner Saye suggested designating one park site with one specific <br /> performance time for our Concerts in the Park series. It was mentioned that <br /> this suggestion has been discussed by the Commission in previous years. <br /> -It was noted that Commissioner Saye was the emcee for "The Big Beat" <br /> program and Commissioner Filippi was the drummer. <br /> -The dedication ceremony for the new Transit Center is Thursday, July 13 at <br /> 9:30am. <br />
