-Commissioner Fischer stated the packets of information on the proposed <br /> ballet program were delivered to all elementary school principals and she <br /> suggested that all principals be called to see how they feel about the program. <br /> Commissioners Distefano and Saye volunteered to assist Commissioner <br /> Fischer in making the phone calls. Commissioner Fischer spoke with Ruth <br /> Woolf who indicated that the principals meet monthly at which time the Ms. <br /> Bena could make her presentation. Ms. Bena said she would like to make a <br /> presentation to the principals in October regarding the program. <br /> -Commissioner Filippi announced the Redwood City Elementary School <br /> District received a $2 million grant for 2 years for cultural programs including <br /> both visual and performing arts for John Gill and McKinley Schools. He has <br /> also been in contact with Pam Thornberg regarding future programs. <br /> -Commissioner Piulle spoke about the Fair Oaks Elementary School "Artist in <br /> Action" program. <br /> -Councilman Sanfilipo asked the Commission to consider funding music at <br /> the Farmer's Market but locate the band at the Court House steps. <br /> M/S Piulle/Saye: To adjourn this evening's meeting in memory of former <br /> Civic Cultural Commissioner Norm Kauffman. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> Commissioner Piulle spoke about former Civic Cultural Commissioner <br /> Norm Kauffman who passed away recently. She noted what a terrific <br /> commissioner he was and that she learned a lot from him. He was a very <br /> kind person and people who knew him were touched by him. Chairperson <br /> Redington also spoke about Mr. Kauffman and announced there will be a <br /> memorial service at 4:OOpm on September 10 at Redwood Chapel. <br /> -Commissioner Saye announced that Sally Morrison of the Peninsula <br /> Celebration Association underwent seven hours of surgery yesterday and <br /> asked for everyone's good thoughts for her. <br /> The regular meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was adjourned in <br /> memory of Norm Kauffman at 9:35pm to be reconvened at 7:OOpm on <br /> Thursday, October 5, 1995 to be held at the Community Activities Building, <br /> 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br />
