Commissioner Saye felt that having music at the train station would provide <br /> nominal exposure because commuters do not spend much time at the station. <br /> ITEM 8-BUDGET <br /> Superintendent Hartman gave the Commissioners a re-cap of the <br /> Commission's budget and grants issued thus far in FY95-96. After the <br /> $30,000.00 grant made to PCS this evening, the remaining budget balance is <br /> $25,645.00. <br /> ITEM 9-EVALUATION OR DISCUSSION OF CULTURAL EVENTS HELD <br /> DURING THE PAST 30 DAYS <br /> -Commissioner Ball attended the Labor Day Festival at the Veterans <br /> Memorial Senior Center and said it was well attended. <br /> ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> -Commissioner Distefano announced the Art Center Board has approved <br /> their by-laws and will be receiving their 5013C status. <br /> -Commissioner Filippi said the Sequoia Alumni Association is planning <br /> several events in celebration of Sequoia High School's Centennial. On <br /> Sunday, September 17, there will be a picnic; over 700 tickets have been sold. <br /> On Saturday, September 16, a dance will be held; it is a sold-out event with <br /> 400 tickets sold and a waiting list for tickets. On September 1415, a variety <br /> show will be held at Carrington Hall. He said the "Shanacie" concert at <br /> Stafford Park was wonderful and there was excellent attendance. <br /> -Commissioner Filippi said he spoke with Henry Use regarding the Peninsula <br /> Symphony holding a Christmas concert in Redwood City. Mr. Use said they <br /> need a space for 250 performers including a chorus. This is the same program <br /> the Peninsula Symphony presented at Stanford Memorial Church and they <br /> are in the process of looking at different venues for the event. Commissioner <br /> Filippi will also contact the Peninsula Symphony regarding next summer's <br /> concert. <br /> -Commissioner Filippi announced there will be a dedication of the historic <br /> landmark at Sequoia High School Campus on October 19 at S:OOpm. <br /> -The Climate Best Fest will be held on September 16-17 in the downtown area <br /> and is sponsored by the Optimist Club. There will be 2 stages of <br /> entertainment at the event. <br />
