Civic Cultural Commission . page 2 <br /> Minutes of October 3, 1996 <br /> She also spoke about the architectural digs going on at Middlefield and Main <br /> and Broadway and Main and the process of discovering and cataloging all the <br /> artifacts. <br /> Mrs. Graves suggested the proposed site development in City Hall could be <br /> a wall mural for the interior wall of the new City Council chambers. She <br /> suggested making this a community project and perhaps having the Cultural <br /> Commission sponsor the event. Commissioners Filippi felt the proposal <br /> should be approved by the City Council before proceeding. <br /> M/S Filippi/Distefano: To pursue discussions with the HRAC with <br /> representatives from both the HRAC and the Cultural <br /> Commission. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> M/S Filippi/Distefano: To contact the City Council and obtain their approval <br /> of the conceptual idea. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> Commissioners Britschgi (chair), Saye and Ball will participate on the City <br /> Hall Historical Art subcommittee and will meet with HRAC members. <br /> ITEM 3-RED MORTON TAPESTRY ART-APPROVAL OF DESIGI�1 <br /> This item was deferred until later in the evening. <br /> ITEM 4- GRANT REQUESTS <br /> -Sequoia Players <br /> Teacher Danny Broome of Sequoia High School confirmed that ticket prices <br /> would be $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for students and seniors. He noted a total <br /> of 526 people attended last year's perforxnances. <br /> -Garfield Charter School <br /> Steven Alvarez and Carol Marks explained how the charter school system <br /> works. They also noted that Garfield has an extended 210 day school year and <br /> includes a pre-school program. They explained in further detail about the <br /> proposed after school music program for Garfield School. Ms. Marks stated <br /> there were no funds available either in the magnet school or general fund <br /> budget for this program. <br /> -RESCUE <br /> Barbara Pierce explained RESCUE will be selling Christmas cards designed by <br /> school children as part of a fundraising effort. She said she would be willing <br /> to work with a Commission sub-committee to further explore other options <br />
