Civic Cultural Commission Page 3 <br /> Minutes of October 3, 1996 <br /> and will be attending a future PACTAC meeting. She stated RESCUE would <br /> like the endorsement of the Cultural Commission and any amount of <br /> funding they would be able to grant at this time. <br /> -Holiday Theatre Festival <br /> Nancy Oliver of the Sequoia Alumni Association said all plans are <br /> proceeding for the event on December 14 which will benefit the Carrington <br /> Hall Architectural Restoration Operation (CHARO). <br /> -John Gill Elementary School <br /> Lua Hadar confirmed that their grant request consists of $2,000.00 for an <br /> additional dance class to be taught by Rosine Bena and $500.00 for <br /> transportation of students between the school and Red Morton Center for the <br /> dance program. The transportation will be required twice a week for 16 <br /> weeks. The Commissioners noted that they usually only fund cultural events <br /> and items which are performance-related. Commissioner Filippi asked what <br /> other things the Commission could fund if the transportation portion of the <br /> grant request was not accepted. Ms. Hadar said John Gill School may have to <br /> hire some technical people to help them with their performance if parents are <br /> not available for this task. <br /> M/S Ball/Redington: To grant $1,000.00 to the Sequoia Players. <br /> Mr. Broome stated the Sequoia Players will probably cut some technical <br /> aspects of the show if the grant is not fully funded. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Yes: Filippi, Ball, Britschgi, Distefano, Redington, Saye (6) <br /> No: Piulle (1) <br /> Motion passed. <br /> M/S Ball/Distefano: To deny the grant request of Garfield Charter School. <br /> The Commissioners discussed granting an alternate amount to Garfield. Ms. <br /> Marks stated $1,000.00 could be used for printed music and books for the <br /> program and that grant funds would be returned to the Cultural Commission <br /> if riot used. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Yes: Filippi, Ball, Britschgi, Distefano, Redington, Saye (6) <br /> No: Piulle (1) <br /> Motion passed. <br /> M/S Redington/Filippi: To grant $1,000.00 to Garfield Charter School for <br /> printed music book with the contract contingent on them raising full funds. <br />
