Civic Cultura! Commission Page 6 Minutes of November 7, 1996 Motion passed. M/S Filippi/Saye: To extend the meeting another 15 minutes. Motion passed. The Commissioners discussed the recommendation to purchase banners to advertise the concert series. M/S Redington/Britschgi: To purchase a double-sided banner for Broadway and a single-sided banner for Sequoia High School or elsewhere. Commissioner Saye suggested hanging a banrier on Broadway above the Courthouse Coffee Shop. Chairperson Piulle suggested purchasing only one single-sided banner to see how it would work and trying to locate a spot to hang it. Motion Amended Redington/Saye: To buy two single-sided banners. Motion passed. (5-yes, 1-no Piulle) Commissioner Filippi asked to have Stafford Park renovation changes on the December agenda as he would like to have the Cultural Commission in on any renovation plans that might impact our concert series. M/S Filippi/Redington: To extend the meeting to 10:OOpm. Motion passed. ITEM 8-FOCUS 96-97 Commissioner Distefano will be the Cultural Commission liaison to the "Home Room", a newspaper sent out by the Redwood City Elementary School District. ITEM 9-EVALUATION OF CULTURAL EVENTS HELD DURING THE PAST 30 DAYS -Commissioner Filippi attended the Max Morath performance; he mentioned the Redwood City archway was featured in a Texas newspaper article; he congratulated the Park and Recreation Department staff for winning the Halloween Costume Contest sponsored by the City Clerk's Office; he noted he will be speaking on behalf of the Commission at a November 16 Art Share meeting. -Commissioner Distefano spoke on the well attended City employee Halloween contest and said that she really enjoyed herself. -Commissioner Britschgi attended an American Heritage doll convention in Albuquerque.
