Civic Cultural Commission page 2 <br /> Minutes of December S, 1996 <br /> M/S Saye/Distefano: To grant $2,000.00 to the El Camino Youth Symphony. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> ITEM 3-CITY HALL ART <br /> The Commissioners discussed the letter from artist Linda Bellew which was <br /> received by the City Council Facilities Committee. Ms. Bellew offered to <br /> donate a carving for the new City Hall which will be designed from a log <br /> which was located in front of the old Chamber of Commerce building. The <br /> Commissioners discussed Ms. Bellew's offer and how to handle the donation. <br /> Superintendent Centeno reminded the Commissioners that there is no <br /> budget for City Hall art. The Commissioners agreed to have the City Hall <br /> Historical Art sub-committee work with the Historic Resources Advisory <br /> Committee on this matter. <br /> ITEM 4 -ART SHARE <br /> Vice Chairperson Filippi spoke about the recent Art Share meeting where he <br /> made a presentation on behalf of the Cultural Commission. He explained <br /> that Art Share is a coalition of San Mateo County art commissions and boards <br /> and he suggested having the Commission become a member of Art Share. <br /> Vice Chairperson Filippi said his presentation regarding the formation and <br /> activities of the Cultural Commission was well received and noted that <br /> Redwood City has the most well organized and successful art commission in <br /> the County. <br /> ITEM 5-SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> -PACTAC <br /> Vice Chairperson Filippi reported the next PACTAC meeting will be held in <br /> January and that the Superintendent has been invited to speak at the <br /> meeting. He announced that next year McKinley will be a "gate" school and a <br /> performing arts school which will have 700 to 1,000 students. <br /> -Publicity <br /> Commissioner Distefano commented that the Redwood City Tribune did a <br /> nice job on the insert for the 'Tis the Season event. The Commissioners <br /> thanked Commissioner Distefano for the great write-up she did in the <br /> Redwood City Almanac on the 'Tis the Season program. <br /> =Tis the Season Holiday Event <br /> Commissioner Ball said all activities for the 'Tis the Season program are <br /> ready to begin and commented on the enthusiasm of the committee <br /> members. She made a packet of all the 'Tis the Season publicity and <br /> information for the Commission. Commissioner Distefano said she received <br />
