` Civic Cultural Commission Page S <br /> Minutes of December S, 1996 <br /> Commissioners all agreed that the meetings need to be finished in less than <br /> three hours and that the requirement to extend the meetings by motion was <br /> no longer necessary. <br /> M/S Saye/Redington: To abolish the 9:30pm deadline for Commission <br /> meetings and to try to adhere to a 10:00pm deadline. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> The Commissioners discussed ideas to make Commission meetings run <br /> more efficiently and end sooner in the evening. It was suggested that <br /> any handouts from grantees be included in the Commission packets rather <br /> than handed out at the meeting. <br /> ITEM 9-EVALUATION OF CULTURAL EVENTS HELD DURING THE <br /> PAST 30 DAYS <br /> -Commissioner Saye reported on the professional show of the Vintage Music <br /> Theater featuring Max Morath. <br /> -Commissioner Britschgi attended a wonderful Christmas music program at <br /> Filoli. <br /> -Commissioner Redington attended the recent College of San Mateo <br /> Anniversary celebration at Foresters Hall which featured the Canada College <br /> jazz Band, <br /> -Vice Chairperson Filippi announced that Kollage is forming a Board of <br /> Directors; he also mentioned the Cultural Commission was featured in the <br /> Kollage newsletter. <br /> ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> -Vice Chairperson Filippi announced there will be an antique collective fair <br /> on Main Street this Saturday and Sunday, December 7-8. <br /> -Commissioner Ball mentioned the 'Tis the Season committee will be <br /> critiquing all program events and pictures will be taken to help in the <br /> evaluation process. She mentioned a congratulatory letter was received from <br /> Bay Area Bank on the 'Tis the Season program. She also reported that Joe <br /> Marchi is still recovering from his recent accident. <br /> -Commissioner Ball announced that Superintendent Corinne Centeno won <br /> the Chamber of Commerce Athena Award for 1996. <br /> -Commissioner Britschgi announced that 17 students and 2 businesses were <br /> nominated for Sequoia Awards. She noted that the Art Center Open House <br /> will start the 'Tis the Season events on Friday, December 6 at 6:OOpm and <br /> invited all to attend. <br /> -Commissioner Saye stated that letters were delivered to 70 businesses in the <br /> downtown area announcing the reorganization of the Redwood City <br /> Downtown Merchants Group. <br />
