Civic Cultural Commission page 4 <br /> Minutes of December S, 1996 ' <br /> ITEM 7-UPDATE ON RED MORTON CENTER ART WORK <br /> The Commissioners received a letter from Helen Webber who stated the <br /> tapestry should be completed by the end of January. <br /> ITEM 8-FOCUS 96-97 <br /> -Commissioner Redington requested that no banners be placed in the 2600 <br /> block of Broadway because they block the view of the new sign and archway <br /> and felt there should be a policy established to keep the view open. <br /> Commissioner Saye mentioned that the clocktower at El Camino Real and <br /> Broadway has three surfaces which could be used to hang banners. <br /> has stated that bolt holes were placed in the clocktower which could be used <br /> to hang signs. Superintendent Centeno reviewed the current banner hanging <br /> process which is currently the responsibility of the Public Works Department <br /> and is done free of charge. <br /> M/S Redington/Ball: To write to the City Council requesting that a policy be <br /> established prohibiting hanging banners in the 2600 block of Broadway. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> Commissioner Distefano agreed to contact the cities of San Carlos, Belmont <br /> and Menlo Park to find out about their banner hanging policies. <br /> M/S Redington/Britschgi: To table any further discussion of this matter <br /> until january. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> A Banner Policy sub-committee was formed of Commissioners Redington <br /> (chair), Saye and Distefano. <br /> -Commissioner Britschgi suggested having a cultural events phone line <br /> similar to what the San Carlos Chamber of Commerce has to advertise their <br /> community events. Superintendent Centeno will call the San Carlos <br /> Chamber of Commerce to obtain more information for the Commission. <br /> -Commissioner Ball asked about having Cultural Commission inserts in the <br /> City water bills. Library Supervisor LaRiviere explained the process she had <br /> to follow in order to place a mailer in the water bills. This matter will be <br /> placed on the January agenda. <br /> -Vice Chairperson Filippi stated he, Chairperson Piulle, and Superintendent <br /> Centeno met to update some of the Commission's protocol procedures in <br /> order to expedite our meetings. One of the previous protocol items was to <br /> require a motion to extend the meeting when it exceeded 9:30pm. The <br />
