- Schedule for Music in the Schools program distributed. <br /> ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> Chairperson Piulle read a proclamation from the Civic Cultural Commission <br /> acknowledging outgoing Commissioner Fischer's service on the Commission <br /> during the past 8 years and thanking her. Superintendent Hartman also extended a <br /> thank you from the staff for all her contributions and hard work. <br /> ITEM 1-LIBRARY PROGRAMS <br /> Library Supervisor Celia LaRiviere reported on the upcoming events at the R.C. <br /> Library, a copy of which is attached. Celia announced that it is time to establish a <br /> jury and once again begin the selection process for the library gallery wall. She asked <br /> for one commissioner to serve along with four other people. Commissioner <br /> Redington was appointed with Chairperson Piulle to act as alternate. <br /> ITEM 2-RELOCATION OF ARGUELLO STATUE <br /> Commissioner Redington reported that the subcommittee including <br /> Commissioners Distefano, Saye and Redington had met with Planner Charles Jany <br /> today and had determined a new location to recommend for the Arguello Statue. <br /> Commissioner Saye described the area on a map. They indicated that it will be <br /> necessary to find out the original committee that installed the statue in order to get <br /> their concurrence. Mr. Jany will work on this. The statue was installed in 1976. <br /> M/S Filippi/Redington: To accept the recommendation of the subcommittee for the <br /> new location of the Arguello Statue. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> ITEM 3-TAFT SCHOOL GRANT REQUEST <br /> Superintendent Hartman gave a presentation on the current status of the <br /> Commission's budget and what the balance would be if tonight's requests were <br /> approved. The Commission deferred discussing Items 3 and 4 and went to Item 11. <br /> ITEM 11- STATUS OF PROGRAMS WITH SAN MATEO COUNTY ARTS <br /> COUNCIL <br /> The schedule for Music in the Schools was reviewed and Chairperson Piulle asked <br /> that the Commissioners make every attempt to attend some of the programs in <br /> order to evaluate the program. <br /> Discussion was held regarding Families Arts Day and whether it would be held <br /> considering the staff changes that have occ�zrred at the Arts Council. <br /> Superintendent Hartman indicated that the new Director Peter Weiglin had stated <br />
