Civic Cultural Commission Page 2 <br /> Minutes of May 2, 1996 <br /> ITEM 1 - LIBRARY PROGRAMS <br /> Supervisor LaRiviere was unable to attend this evening's meeting. The <br /> Commissioners were provided with a copy of May activities at the Library. <br /> ITEM 2-UPDATE ON JOHN GILL DANCE PROGRAM <br /> This item was deferred until later in the evening. <br /> ITEM 3-RELOCATION OF ARGUELLO STATUE <br /> Commissioner Redington reported that Charles Jany is trying to locate the <br /> artist and the person who funded the statue. The project is still moving <br /> ahead and the statue will be relocated where the sub-committee has <br /> recornmended. Commissioner Redington will keep the Commission <br /> apprised of the project developments. <br /> ITEM 4-CARRINGTON HALL REPORT <br /> Steve Penna reported the architectural/structural study will be completed in <br /> one week. He stated the Canington Hall Committee is developing a <br /> presentation for the public hearing which will be held on Thursday, May 23, <br /> 1996 at 7:30pm at Carrington Hall. The original meeting was scheduled for <br /> May 22 but was changed due to conflicts. Mr. Penna announced there will be <br /> a committee meeting on May 8 and invited all to attend. At that meeting, the <br /> various sub-committees will be reviewing their reports and presentations in <br /> preparation for the public hearing. He stated that informational packets will <br /> be hand delivered to the Cultural Commission, City Council and Sequoia <br /> Union High School District Board of Trustees. He anticipates that all back up <br /> materials will be ready for copying on May 13. Commissioner Filippi <br /> suggested having the Commissioners be responsible for putting the public <br /> hearing notice in all teachers' boxes in each of the schools. Mr. Penna said <br /> that a flyer for the event will be developed by May 6. He will contact Secretary <br /> Denise Monroe to finalize the agenda for the public meeting. He requested <br /> that a formal invitation be prepared to invite the City Council to the meeting. <br /> M/S Fischer/Redington: To send out a separate invitation to the City Council <br /> on purple paper. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> Mr. Penna invited the Commissioners and public to attend the committee <br /> meeting on May 8 to help provide strategy for the public hearing. The <br /> committee meeting will be held at 6:OOpm at the Sequoia District Offices. <br />
