Civic Cultural Commission Page 3 <br /> Minutes of May 2, 1996 <br /> He asked everyone to spread the word about the meeting and indicated there <br /> would be a different presentation from each sub-committee at the public <br /> hearing. <br /> ITEM 5- SUMMER CONCERTS <br /> M/S Filippi/Distefano: To accept the request from the Optimist Club to <br /> provide food and beverage at our concerts. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> ITEM 6 -ARTS AWARDS -JUNE 11�EETING <br /> M/S Filippi/Redington: To authorize the expenditure of $700.00 for the Art <br /> Contest. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> The June meeting will be held at the Library Community Room at 7:OOpm. <br /> The meeting will begin with Roll Call and then go directly to Presentation of <br /> Awards and all other business will follow the awards. <br /> ITEM 7-CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE UPDATE <br /> It was requested to change the name of this agenda item to PACTAC. Pat <br /> Nugent supplied copies of the PACTAC minutes for Thursday, April 25 to the <br /> Commissioners. She noted that a parent from John Gill School has joined <br /> the committee. <br /> ITEM 9-CHRISTMAS CONCERT <br /> Commissioner Filippi reported the sub-committee met and discussed various <br /> ideas for a Christmas concert. It was suggested by the sub-committee to get all <br /> the elementary and high schools involved in the program. He s�aid they need <br /> to coordinate all holiday events such as the Christmas Tree Lighting, the <br /> Christmas Parade, the Peninsula Symphony concert, Santa Claus visit, <br /> combining the school concerts, and the Sequoia Alumni Association holiday <br /> event. Commissioner Saye said he would like to see all businesses participate <br /> in decorating their store windows for Christmas and would like to see small <br /> cash prize awards offered to the winners. He mentioned the PCA has a <br /> similar program for the 4th of July which is successful. Commissioner Filippi <br /> also suggested having a ballet program during the holiday season. He <br /> mentioned that Sequoia High School is interested in participating as well as <br /> Pat Nugent and Dr. Balderas.
