' Civic Cultural Commission Page S <br /> Minutes of May 2, 1996 <br /> Ms. Bena thanked the Commissioners and invited all to attend the Peninsula <br /> Ballet's performance on June 1 and 2 at Carlmont High School. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> Ms. Bena said she would complete her grant application for her proposed <br /> summer program for the Commission. <br /> ITEM 8-FAMILIES ARTS DAY APPROVAL <br /> Chairperson Piulle advised the Commissioners that they need to consider the <br /> various options available regarding Families Arts Day which are: <br /> Option #1 - To co-sponsor the event with the San Mateo County Arts <br /> Council. Target has provided a grant of $2,500.00 towards the program and <br /> the Cultural Commission has budgeted $800.00 for the event. <br /> Option # 2 - A proposal from Use/Kirkner for a similar event at a cost of <br /> $3,100.00. <br /> Option #3 - "Bare Bones" Community Arts Day - a joint venture with the <br /> Redwood City Arts Center; Cultural Commission donates $825.00 for the <br /> event. <br /> Option #4 - Do nothing. <br /> Peter Weiglin of the San Mateo County Arts Council said they have tentative <br /> commitments from 11 groups and have the complete program organized. <br /> Chairperson Piulle questioned the Art Council's recent newsletter which <br /> advertised Families Arts Day before it has been formally approved by the <br /> Cultural Commission. <br /> M/S Redington/Saye: To proceed with Families Arts Day with the San Mateo <br /> County Arts Council. <br /> Chairperson Piulle reminded the Commissioners that Target has already <br /> granted the San Mateo County Arts Council $2,500.00 towards the event. <br /> Roll Call Vote was taken. Yes-7, No-0. Motion passed. <br /> Supervisor Hannon, Chairperson Piulle and the representative from the Arts <br /> Council will meet to finalize the plans for Families Arts Day. <br /> Commissioner Filippi announced this would probably be Commissioner <br /> Fischer's last meeting and thanked her for her work on the Commission. <br />
