Civic Cultural Commission Page 6 <br /> Minutes of May 2, 1996 <br /> The meeting was adjourned at 8:32pm for refreshments. The meeting was <br /> called back to order at 8:45pm. <br /> ITEM 10- BUDGET REVIEW <br /> M/S Filippi/Saye: To approve $800.00 for Families Arts Day. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> The Commissioners discussed the fact that $1,505.00 is remaining in their <br /> FY95-96 budget. Commissioner Redington mentioned that the Optimist Club <br /> has turned in a grant request for $2,000.00 for the Climate Best Fest. The <br /> Commissioners also discussed using the remaining funds for an additional <br /> concert this summer. Commissioner Fischer suggested extending the John <br /> Gill dance program with the funds. The Commissioners discussed the fact <br /> that a grant request for the dance program was not on this evening's agenda <br /> and whether extending the current dance program contract could be done. <br /> The Commissioners asked Ms. Bena what the cost could be to extend the <br /> dance program until the end of school in June. <br /> M/S Fischer/Distefano: To grant $1375.00 as a contingency for the John Gill <br /> dance program for Rosine Bena's special summer class <br /> program. <br /> Motion withdrawn. <br /> After much discussion, Commissioner Saye will discontinue plans for the last <br /> summer concert he was organizing. <br /> M/S Fischer/Distefano: To award $1,505.00 as a continuation of the John Gill <br /> dance program to Rosine Bena under the current contract terms. <br /> Supervisor Gibbons said he felt that a grant request for the John Gill School <br /> dance program was not on the agenda and he objected to the matter being <br /> voted on. Commissioner Fischer said she rejected Supervisor Gibbons' <br /> comment and felt it was appropriate under Item 2 of this evening's agenda. <br /> The Commissioners felt the grant application of the Optimist Club should be <br /> considered in July using FY96-97 funds. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> TTEM 11-REPORT ON SCHOOL BOARD PRESENTATION <br /> Chairperson Piulle reported on her presentation to the Board of the Redwood <br /> City Elementary School District and provided the Commissioners with a copy <br /> of what she presented at the meeting. She said the Commission was <br /> complimented by the School Board and were made aware of many things the <br />
