Civic Cultural Commission Page 2 <br /> Minutes of July 11, 1996 <br /> need to abstain from any vote on this grant request as they are both members <br /> of the Optimist Club. <br /> M/S Filippi/Ball: To grant $2,4000.00 to the Optimist Club to be used on <br /> entertainment for this year's Climate Best Fest. <br /> Yes-4, Abstentions-2. Motion passed. <br /> -Kollage Community School for the Arts <br /> Chairperson Piulle explained Kollage has submitted three separate grant <br /> proposals which will be handled individually. The Grant Proposal #1 is for <br /> $4,000.00 which will provide funding for a 22-week music residency program <br /> for four (4) Kindergarten classes in one Redwood City elementary school. <br /> M/S Ball/Redington: To decline the grant application for the 22 week music <br /> residency program from Kollage Arts. <br /> The Commissioners discussed the matter and decided to table the motion <br /> until hearing all three grant proposals from Kollage Arts. <br /> Mr. Use explained Grant Proposal#2 is called NOTE (NO Tin Ears) Program <br /> in School Concerts formerly known as Music in the Schools. The program <br /> will consist of two 45 minute music programs at each Redwood City <br /> elementary school and will include in-service training program for all <br /> teachers. <br /> Grant Proposal #3 is for $2500.00 and includes $250.00 to provide the fina110% <br /> of the necessary funds for the John Gill Ballet Program, and $2,250.00 to <br /> provide for a dance residency program taught by Rosine Bena at a different <br /> Redwood City school. Mr. Use mentioned that whatever school is selected for <br /> this program, they should have an auditorium. The ballet program is <br /> designed for three (3) 4th grade classes. <br /> Vote on previous motion on Grant Proposal #1: <br /> Yes-4, No-l. Motion passed. <br /> M/S Redington/Ball: To grant $8,350.00 to Kollage Arts for the NOTE <br /> Program in School Concerts program. <br /> The Commissioners were invited to attend the in-service teacher training <br /> and would receive a copy of all materials. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br />
