Civic Cultural Commission Page S <br /> Minutes of August l, 1996 <br /> -Commissioner Filippi also attended the Italian Fiesta. He also has a new <br /> band tape for the Commissioners to listen to. He mentioned the Middle <br /> Schools will have a new music program which is partially subsidized by a <br /> drum company and will feature the performances of Different Drums. He <br /> requested this item be placed on the September agenda. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> -A letter was received from Superintendent Ron Crates approving the <br /> assistance of the Cultural Commission during the next school year. <br /> -Commissioner Filippi received an outline of a proposed music program <br /> from Henry Use and the Peninsula Symphony and a copy was forwarded to <br /> each Commissioner. <br /> -Chairperson Piulle received a letter from Kollage Arts stating they had met <br /> with Superintendent Ron Crates regarding the dance programs funded by the <br /> Cultural Commission for two schools. She was advised that one of the <br /> schools will be McKinley and the other school has not been selected. <br /> -Commissioner Filippi obtained a copy of the FY96-97 and FY97-98 budget for <br /> San Mateo County and spoke of the costs of the juvenile delinquency <br /> programs versus the costs of funding cultural programs. <br /> -A newsletter was received from the Peninsula Lite Opera. <br /> ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> -Pacific Sticks will be performing a concert outside of the San Mateo County <br /> Office Building on August 28. Flyers were given to the Commissioners. <br /> The regular meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was adjourned at <br /> 9:37pm to be reconvened at 7:OOpm on Thursday, September 5, 1996 to be held <br /> at the Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood <br /> City, California. <br />
