Commusion Page 3 <br /> Minutes of January 2, 1997 <br /> Councilwoman LaBerge said this was a good idea for the Council Facilities <br /> Sub-Committee and would have it added to their January agenda. <br /> ITEM 4-CITY HALL TIME CAPSULE INFORMATION <br /> Chairperson Piulle explained the time capsule in the new City Hall can be <br /> installed in the wall of the City Council chambers and it would cost $300.00 <br /> for the time capsule container. She is working with local English teachers to <br /> include a winning essay in the time capsule. <br /> M/S Filippi/Distefano: To allocate $300.00 for the City Hall time capsule <br /> container. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> This item will also be placed on the January agenda of the Council Facilities <br /> Sub-Committee for further discussion. Chairperson Piulle said the contents <br /> of the time capsule will be on display before being placed into the wall. <br /> Superintendent Centeno will send a letter to the Hi.storic Resources Advisory <br /> Committee (HRAC) to advise them of the Commission's approval of the time <br /> capsule purchase and Chairperson Piulle will continue working with the <br /> HRAC on this matter. <br /> ITEM 5-FOX THEATER REHEARSAL ATTENDANCE BY SCHOOL <br /> GROUPS <br /> Commissioner Filippi spoke about the letter hom Peter Bliznick which stated <br /> his concerns about having students attend dress rehearsals at the Fox Theater. <br /> Commissioner Filippi said he researched the various issues raised in the <br /> letter and shared the results of his reseazch. No royalties need to be paid <br /> because this is a dress rehearsal not a performance; no promotion is needed <br /> because program arrangements will be made with the School District liaison; <br /> liability issues were discussed with City Attorney who indicated that if this <br /> was a City-sponsored event, the City would assume the liability, but it would <br /> still need to be reviewed by his office; various other community theater <br /> groups have invited local school children to observe their dress rehearsals <br /> with much success. <br /> M/S Ball/Distefano: To write a letter to the Peninsula Center Stage to <br /> encourage having students attend their dress rehearsals. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> Charles Ascello was introduced and he explained he is opening up an acting <br /> school in Redwood City. He stated he is also interested in working with local <br /> high schools to offer a 12-hour workshop to drama students.
