A <br /> Civic Cultura/Commission Page 4 <br /> Minutes of October 2, 1997 <br /> -Banner Policy <br /> Commissioner Redington stated there was no new information to report. <br /> -Budget Committee <br /> Chairperson Ball reported that the request for additional funding would be <br /> heard at the October 6, 1997 City Council meeting. The Commissioners <br /> discussed how the presentation would be made, who would speak for the <br /> Commission, and who to invite in support. <br /> Staff was asked to send Commissioners Saye and Britschgi copies of the <br /> Cultural Element and to provide copies of the Board and Commission <br /> Handbook to Commissioners Piulle, Saye, Distefano and Redington. <br /> ITEM 3 — FOCUS 97-98 <br /> Commissioner Britschgi commented on the one page proposal to establish a <br /> file with all arts programs mission, whether they are Redwood City-based or <br /> perform in Redwood City, and their funding source. Commissioner Piulle <br /> spoke regarding the Community Cultural Planning Work Kit she purchased on <br /> behalf of the Commission. She suggested that the Youth/Special Events <br /> Committee take on the task of collecting data on arts groups. It was the <br /> consensus of the group that this committee should pursue the project. <br /> Commission Piulle asked that the issue of a policy that no grants be <br /> considered before we have a Commission budget session and Council has <br /> approved its budget be placed on the November agenda. <br /> ITEM 4 — EVALUATION OF CULTURAL EVENTS HELD DURING THE PAST <br /> 30 DAYS <br /> -Commissioner Distefano reported on the Port's 60t'' Anniversary and the <br /> Climate Best Fest. She noted the lack of publicity from the Port and the <br /> regular announcements at the Climate Best Fest. <br /> -Commissioner Piulle spoke of her tour on the SS Potomac and noted that <br /> the tours of the ship were well attended; she noted negative comments <br /> about the Climate Fest Fest. <br /> -Commissioner Britschgi reported on her tour of the SS Potomac; not thrilled <br /> with the Climate Best Fest; she encouraged all to visit to the San Mateo <br /> County Historical Museum. <br /> -Commissioner Saye commented on the Climate Best Fest advertising. <br /> -Chairperson Ball spoke regarding the advertising of the Port celebration and <br /> about her tour of the SS Potomac. <br /> ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> There were no announcements. <br /> The regular meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was adjourned at <br /> 9:30pm to be reconvened at 7:OOpm on Thursday, November 6, 1997 at the <br /> Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, <br /> California. <br />
