Chairperson Ball <br /> spoke on how the Commission asked RESCUE, Kollage, and the School <br /> District to come together with one application. The possibility of getting <br /> donations of instruments from the Musicians Union or Trust Funds or <br /> Interservice Coordinating Club Council were also discussed. <br /> The Commissioners commented on their excitement that music and arts <br /> programs are returning to the schools and their desire to get a better picture <br /> of what is being offered at what level and at what schools. <br /> Commissioner Saye spoke about private support from local companies such <br /> as Oracle and Electronic Arts for this type of program. <br /> M/S Redington/Saye: To table the request from Instrumental Music <br /> Department of the Redwood City School District for S6,000.00 <br /> until after the City Council discussion of the Commission <br /> budget. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> ITEM 3 - SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> -Publicity <br /> Commissioner Distefano reported on the 525,000.00 donation from <br /> Electronic Arts to the Samaritan House of San Mateo. <br /> -Tis the Season <br /> Chairperson Ball reported that meetings were well attended and plans are <br /> moving along well. The parade and post entertainment are set. Staff <br /> reported that Rosine Bena of Peninsula Ballet Theater may be coming back to <br /> the Commission in November to modify her request for funds. Commissioner <br /> Piulle will contact Lynn Hilferty to determine whether Kollage Dance Program <br /> is still being taught by Ms. Bena. <br /> -Public Art <br /> No new items to report. A letter was sent to the City Manager regarding the <br /> Chinese Sister City gift. <br /> -Summer Concerts <br /> Chairperson Ball reported she has previewed at least one new concert tape. <br /> M/S Piulle/Britschgi: To set aside 55,300.00 for the Summer Concert <br /> budget. <br /> Motion passed. (Yes-5, No-1 Saye) <br /> -Youth and Special Events <br /> Commissioner Britschgi complimented staff on outreach efforts in connection <br /> with Stafford Park renovations. Both public art and a platform at Stafford <br /> Park were mentioned by residents during the public meeting on the 13t'' of <br /> September. <br />
