Civic Cultura! Commission page 6 <br /> Minutes of May 1, 1997 <br /> -Commissioner Saye reported on his attendance at the El Camino Youth <br /> Symphony performance, "Invitation to the Dance". He suggested perhaps <br /> the Commission may want to be involved in the "Taming of the Shrew" at <br /> the San Mateo Performing Arts Center. <br /> -Commissioner Redington attended a performance of "Bye Bye Birdie" at <br /> Carrington Hall by Kennedy School students. He noted the Sequoia Senior <br /> Chorus will be performing at the Mountain View Center for the Performing <br /> Arts. <br /> -Commissioner Distefano announced that on Sunday, May 4 at 3:OOpm, a <br /> choir concert entitled "Songs of Hope" will be held at Messiah Lutheran <br /> Church. <br /> -Commissioner Piulle announced she was principal for the day at john Gill <br /> School. She thanked the Commission for their support of the time capsule <br /> for the new City Hall and noted that she will be making a video tape of people <br /> talking about what Redwood City will be like in 50 years. She is also <br /> sponsoring an essay concert at Sequoia High School and the five best essays <br /> will be included in the time capsule. She also attended "Kiss Me Kate" at the <br /> San Mateo Performing Arts Center. <br /> -Chairperson Ball celebrated Greek Easter in San Diego. <br /> ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> -It was announced that Friday, May 2 is the McKinley Spring FesHval. <br /> -Commissioner Piulle reported she received a letter from Sally Hartman <br /> which described the Oregon State Art Commission's active support for a <br /> percent for public art program. <br /> The regular meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was adjourned at <br /> 9:27pm to be reconvened at 7:OOpm on Thursday, june 5, 1997 to be held at the <br /> Main Library Community Room, 1044 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, <br /> California. <br />
