Civic Cultural Commission page� <br /> Minutes of September 11, 1997 <br /> commissions and service clubs to find out what the Library can do for the groups <br /> or what can be done together. She reported on the Library forming a foundation. <br /> Seven people have consented to serve on the board of the foundation. <br /> Ms. Chen noted that among the areas where supplemental funding could be <br /> used are: computer work stations; a presence in Redwood Shores for access <br /> and delivering books; and the creation of a superb collection section (i.e. Art <br /> History, Architecture, Local History). Commissioner Saye noted that the San <br /> Mateo Historical Museum will soon be located in the downtown area and he <br /> encouraged a relationship with the group. <br /> The Commissioners welcomed Ms. Chen and thanked her for her appearance. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> The following corrections were requested to the August minutes: <br /> On page 1, Unanimously approved needs to be inserted after MSA. <br /> On page 3, the record of the vote on the motion to grant $1,500.00 to Redwood <br /> City International should read - Yes-Redington, Piulle; No-Ball, Britschgi. <br /> On page 3, Item 3 (Publicity) should read that the Commission Chairperson was <br /> asked to share our concern that the Cultural Commission was not mentioned in <br /> publicity for the Port's 60th Anniversary. <br /> M/S Piulle/Saye: To approve the August minutes as corrected. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> Commissioner Distefano asked the Commissioners to review notices of <br /> upcoming events and newsletters and commented on the following items: <br /> 1.) Notice of a "Meet the Conducto�' performance of the Peninsula Youth <br /> Orchestra on September 13 at 4:OOpm at McKinley School. <br /> 2.) Thank you letter from Charlotte Keenan of Casa de Redwood. <br /> 3.) Copy of Commissioner Filippi's letter of resignation. <br /> Commissioner Piulle noted that materials for Tapestry in Talent had not arrived <br /> on time and asked that items not be held for the monthly mailing packet. <br /> ITEM 2 — SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> -Publicity <br /> Commissioner Distefano reported she is working on getting as much coverage <br /> as possible for Commission events. <br /> Commissioner Saye distributed copies of a tentative schedule of concerts at <br /> Messiah Lutheran Church. � <br />
