Civic Cultural Commission page 3 <br /> Minutes of September Il, 1997 <br /> -Tis the Season <br /> Chairperson Ball reported there were 25 attendees at the last meeting. Planning <br /> is going well with Mr. And Mrs. Claus selected; the Optimist Club and Peninsula <br /> Celebration Association working cooperatively on the parade and a tree lighting <br /> and picture taking at City Hall. The next meeting will be held on September 23 at <br /> Kennedy School. <br /> -Public Art <br /> Commissioner Redington reported that the Arguello bust has been moved to the <br /> site in the plaza selected by the Commissioners. Commissioner Piulle noted she <br /> will wait until after winter to deal with the damage to the statue's patina. <br /> Commissioner Piulle reported on the City Hall time capsule. She indicated she <br /> would call all Commissioners with the date and time it would be sealed in the <br /> wall. Commissioner Piulle noted that estimates for re-framing of the Ledesma <br /> paintings in City Hall are being done. She noted she was successful in getting <br /> the Ledesma art work at Schaberg Library moved to a spot behind the circulation <br /> desk. She asked that a letter be sent thanking staff for moving the picture. <br /> M/S Piulle/Redington: To send a letter to the City Manager with a copy to the <br /> City Council recommending that the gift from our Chinese Sister City be <br /> placed on a red lacquer pedestal and covered by a lucite box. The <br /> Commission would be happy to cooperate in the process. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> -Summer Concerts <br /> With the resignation of Commissioner Filippi, Chairperson Ball appointed herself <br /> and Commissioners Distefano and Saye to the Summer Concert Committee. <br /> -Youth and Special Events <br /> Commissioner Britschgi noted that on Saturday, September 13, the Parks, <br /> Recreation and Community Services Department would be holding a public <br /> meeting to get community input on renovations at Stafford Park. <br /> M/S Britschgi/Distefano: That some type of site specific public art be included in <br /> the design of Stafford Park. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> M/S Piulle/Distefano: That consideration be given to including a flat surface on <br /> which the stage could rest evenly. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> -Banner Policy <br /> Commissioner Redington stated there was no new information to report. <br /> -Budget Committee <br /> Chairperson Ball stated the Commission's letter was sent to Mayor Hartnett <br /> regarding additional funding.
