Civic Cultural Commission page 4 <br /> Minutes of September 11, I997 <br /> Department of Transportation's budget was increased $1.3 billion only 2 months <br /> into the new 5 year plan. She also noted that $5,300.00 was approved from the <br /> Port for the Summer Concert Series. <br /> M/S Piulle/Saye: To designate $800.00 of the Commission's remaining funds for <br /> the elementary art concert. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> Chairperson Ball commented that she would like to have the Commission be <br /> more concise in its review of grant applications. <br /> The Commissioners took a break befin►een 8:30 and 8:50pm. <br /> Chairperson Ball agreed to call the Mayor regarding the date the request for <br /> additional funding would be reviewed by the City Council. <br /> ITEM 3 — FOCUS 97-98 <br /> Commissioner Britschgi commented on the idea of bringing all art agencies <br /> together. Staff and Commissioner Britschgi will meet to develop a proposal for <br /> the entire Commission to review. <br /> Commissioner Britschgi commented on budget process. She and Commissioner <br /> Distefano will serve on budget committee along with Chairperson Ball. <br /> ITEM 4— EVALUATION OF CULTURAL EVENTS HELD DURING THE PAST <br /> 30 DAYS , <br /> -Commissioner Saye attended a reception at the art center for the Zhuhai <br /> delegation. <br /> -Commissioner Distefano attended the reception for the Colima delegation <br /> sponsored by Hispanos Unidos, Mayor Hartnett and Vice Mayor Howard. <br /> She also attended the City Hall dedication. <br /> -Commissioner Piulle attended an art show at the Presidio. She expressed her <br /> disappointment on the Art Center reception for the Zhuhai and Colima <br /> delegations. <br /> -Commissioner Redington also attended the reception at the Art Center and the <br /> City Hall dedication. <br /> -Commissioner Britschgi was impressed with the gift from Zhuhai delegation to <br /> the City. She attended a concert of a German band at Flower Haus Staudt. She <br /> also attended the Palo Alto Art and Craft Fair. <br />
