Minutes of the Civic Cultura/Commission Page 5 <br /> Thursday, November 5, 1998 <br /> Item 5— Sub-Committee Reports <br /> Publicity <br /> No report. <br /> Tis Season <br /> No report in addition to the discussion on the grants reports. <br /> Public Art <br /> The Ledesma paintings are on display in the upstairs gallery at City Hall. <br /> Commissioners Saye and Britschgi assisted. <br /> Youth and Special Events <br /> Commissioner Dale reported on the Redwood City 2000 Spotlight on Kids <br /> Program held on 10/24/98 to support the development of an after school <br /> performing arts program. He agreed to cany the Commission's congratulations <br /> on a job well done back to former Councilwoman Georgi La6erge. <br /> Superintendent Centeno thanked Commissioners Dale, Schenone and Del Carlo <br /> for acting as judges for the Halloween Spooktacular Costume Contest. We <br /> estimate that approximately 1,800 children and adults attended the event. The <br /> Commission suggested that staff should consider offering more and larger prizes <br /> such as first, second and third place trophies. <br /> Budget <br /> An updated report reflecting current balances was provided. <br /> Item 6— Nomination of Officers for Calendar Year 1999 <br /> Vice-Chairperson Redington open the floor for nominations. <br /> Commissioner Dale nominated Vice Chairperson Redington for Chairperson. <br /> There were no other nominations from the floor. <br /> M/S Dale/Saye to close nominations and declare Oliver Redington the <br /> Chairperson of the Cultural Commission for a one year term beginning <br /> January 1, 1999. Motion passed. <br /> The floor was opened for nominations for Vice Chairperson. <br /> Commissioner Saye nominated Barbara Britschgi. There were no other <br /> nominations, <br /> M/S - Saye/Dale to close nominations and declare Barbara Britschgi the <br /> Vice Chairperson of the Cultural Commission for a one year term beginning <br /> January 1, 1999. Motion passed. � <br />
