Chairwoman la Berge opened the public hearings at 7:50 p.m. and invited anyone who wished to speak to please do so. Dennis logie, Pastor of First Christian Church, asked Agency Directors to act in good faith with Mr. Greer, who is a long time resident and has exhibited good will to many groups in the City, and who has been trying to sell his property for many years. Pastor logie advised there was a possibility that the Greer's insurance would pay for toxic cleanup if he was allowed to stay and operate a service station, and asked that the Agency work with the Greer's Trust to resolve this issue. Director Claire described the care the Agency takes in eminent domain cases and advised the Agency would explore the insurance held by the Greer's Trust. City Attorney Schricker addressed the issue of valuation and described the proscribed procedure for the negotiation process, and advised that the insurance was a new issue and a complicated one as there exists a need for toxic cleanup, but advised the Directors that all issues would be explored and negotiations are continuing.
