Civic Cukura!Commission Page 3 <br /> Minutes of December 2, 1999 <br /> The following items were taken out of order: <br /> ITEM 5 - SUB-COMMtTTEE REPORTS � -- - _ .. _ .. <br /> -Public Art, Britschgi <br /> Commissioner Britschgi reported that the sub-committee met with Nick <br /> Watry to discuss ways to estab{ish an ordinance for public art. She will <br /> continue to report back to the Commission on this topic. <br /> ITEM 2 - APPROVAL OF ART CQNTEST THEME <br /> Proposed themes for the art contest are: My Favorite Hobby, My Favorite <br /> Pet, My Favorite Place to Visit, My Favorite Vacation, Redwood City 3000 - <br /> Your Vision. "My Favorite Redwood City Architecture" was also added to <br /> the fist. The Commissioners decided that since Commissioners Schenone <br /> and Dafe were not at tonight's meeting, this item wilf be de#erred untif the <br /> January meeting. The theme must be decided at the January meeting in <br /> order to adhere to the time�ne for this edent. <br /> Superintendent Centeno reminded the Cammissioners that if they cannot <br /> attend a Commission meeting, plesse call the office at 780-7250 and let <br /> staff know. <br /> ITEM 3 - REP4RT FR4M PE�INSULA CEWTER Sl'AGE <br /> Chairperson Redington reported that he met with Peter Bliznick regarding the <br /> Commission's grant of 510,000.00 for the production of "Mame". A letter <br /> was received from Mr. Bliutick and copies were distributed to all the <br /> Commissioners. Mr. Bliznick's fetter explained the Peninsula Center Stage <br /> (PCS) promised to put the production of "Mame" on by June 30, 2000 or <br /> agreed to return the funds to the Commission. <br /> M/S SayeBritschgi: To accept the proposal made by Peninsufa Center Stage <br /> to put on the production of 'Mame" by June 30, 2000 at the Fox Theater or <br /> return the $10,000.00 to the Commission. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> Commissioner Britschgi asked if the funds were returned to the Cammission, <br /> could they be used to start a pubfic art fund. Superintendent Centeno stated <br /> that it would probably require Councit action but staff woufd need to <br /> research this matter. <br /> ITEM 4 - SUB-COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS <br /> Superintendent Centeno will be contacting the City Clerk regarding fifling <br /> Commissioner Pierce's vacancy on the Commission. Commissioner Pierce <br /> was the chair of the Pfanning Sub-committee and she was also on the <br /> Commission-Sponsored Events sub-committee and the Commission <br /> representative on the Strategic Pfanning sub-committee. Commissioner Del <br /> Carlo agreed to be the�Commission's representative on the Strategic Planning <br /> sub-committee and Comrnission Saye will be the alternate. <br />
