Minufes of the Civic Cultural Commission Page 2 <br /> Thursday, February 4, 1999 <br /> ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> None <br /> Item 1 - Library Programs <br /> Celia LaRiviere made an oral presentation on upcoming Library activities <br /> including the Archives Committee Open House on 2/27/99 and a book bag the <br /> Foundation has for sale. She distributed an updated calendar of events to all the <br /> Commissioners. <br /> Item 2 - Grant Requests <br /> -Redwood City Public Library- Fair Oaks Branch request for$999.00 for a <br /> Cultural Pena at Fair Oaks Library, 5/15/99, 12-2 p.m. <br /> Maria Kramer spoke to her request for funding of a cultural pena to celebrate the <br /> various Latino cultures within Redwood City. The Cultural Commission funding <br /> would be used to pay local entertainers to perForm at the event. The Library will <br /> be contributing approximately $4,200.00 in kind for the event. <br /> M/S Dale/Del Carlo: To move $1,340.00 from the large grants to the small grants <br /> category. <br /> Motion approved unanimously. <br /> M/S Dale/Del Carlo: To grant the Redwood City Public Library $999.00 for <br /> funding for their May 15 Cultural Pena. <br /> Motion approved unanimously. <br /> Item 3 — Report from Vintage Music Theater on the Status of their <br /> production <br /> Mr. McKenna spoke to the Commission regarding their concem that the second <br /> performance of their Vintage Music Theater was scheduled for the San Mateo <br /> Performing Arts Center because Carrington Hall had cancelled their second date. <br /> He indicated that he appreciated the information on the Veterans Memorial <br /> Senior Center Little Theater and had been able to schedule a third performance <br /> of the show on March 27, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. The first performance will be at <br /> Carrington Hall on March 19�' at 7:30 p.m. and the second at the San Mateo <br /> Performing Arts Center on March 21, 1999 at 7:30p.m. He invited all the <br /> Commissioners to attend any of the perFormances. <br /> Item 4— Finalize CCC Grant Request Process <br /> Commissioner Pierce distributed a brief inemo outlining how dollars had been <br /> spent this year and recommending that a larger portion of the funding go to large <br /> grants. The Commissioners discussed various funding scenarios. . <br />
