Civic Cultural Commission Page 3 <br /> Minutes of March 4, 1999 <br /> -Cuitural Commission Sponsored Events <br /> Commissioner Pierce announced the Rotary Club is interested in having a <br /> concert at the Port of Redwood City in conjunction with their "Rubber Ducky <br /> Contest" which will be held on September 25. She will contact Terry <br /> Anderlini of the Redwood Shores Homeowners Association to see if they <br /> might be interested in participating and will report back to the Commission. <br /> -Summer Concerts <br /> Superintendent Centeno reported Manager Julie Hannon has secured <br /> contracts with the following bands for the Summer Concerts: Expresso 5 <br /> (Italian pop), E Ticket (rock and roll), and Backswing (big band). She advised <br /> the Commission that we need to select the other bands for the concert series <br /> soon in order to confirm their performance and secure contracts. More <br /> information will be coming at the April meeting. <br /> The Commissioners discussed the Tis the Season Committee and it was <br /> decided to agendize this matter for the April meeting. <br /> Superintendent Centeno stated the cost for a 3' x 10' banner to advertise <br /> the concerts and which will be hung on the Kids Klub fence at Red Morton <br /> Center will cost 5250-S300. <br /> M/S Schenone/Pierce: To buy one banner at a cost of up to $300.00 for the <br /> concert in the park series. <br /> Commissioner Pierce was appointed to work with Julie Hannon on the <br /> banner purchase. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> Commissioner Pierce will have a chart at the April meeting containing <br /> information from other cities and their cultural programs. <br /> -Public Art <br /> Commissioner Britschgi commented on the colorful banners placed <br /> downtown by the Historical Museum. She stated the Historical Museum has <br /> now asked the Commission to sponsor the entire cost of the reception not <br /> just the postage costs as previously requested. The reception cost would <br /> include food, beverages, invitations, and postage, in addition to the <br /> Commission hosting the event. The Commissioners discussed this matter and <br /> decided to delay the reception until the fall of this year. <br /> Commissioner Britschgi reported on attending the recent ArtShare meeting. <br /> She noted she would be unable to attend their March 19 meeting and asked <br /> if another Commissioner would like to attend in her place. She also stated <br /> that Kollage will be having their 10t'' Anniversary event at Burton Park in San <br /> Carlos in the month of June. <br /> Commissioner Dale reported he will be meeting with Ruth Waters soon and <br /> has already met with the architect of the Historical Museum and Historical <br /> Museum Director Mitch Postel. He noted that Supervisor Rose Jacobs- <br /> Gibson has asked to be appointed to the committee looking at the use of the <br /> Courthouse site. <br />
