Mr. V�/olf stated the SAG <br /> would also like to request $200-5250 to pay for publicity flyers and posters <br /> to advertise the event. He confirmed tf�at the top 10 high school students <br /> and the top 5 middle school students would be invited to participate. <br /> Commissioner Dale discussed the pricing of the art work and suggested <br /> allowing art prices to go as high as 5300 per piece. The Commissioners <br /> discussed the concept and how the event would be organized by the SAG. <br /> M/S Dale/Britschgi: To support the August art sale and invite the Sequoia <br /> Art Group to submit a grant application for the event at our May meeting. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> ITEM 3 — GRANT REQUEST <br /> -Taft Healthy Start Mano-a-Mano Festival <br /> This item will be deferred until the May meeting since a representative from <br /> Taft Healthy Start was not in attendance. <br /> The following items were taken out of order: <br /> ITEM 5 — SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> -Children & Youth <br /> Commissioner Schenone reported all contest forms have been distributed; <br /> entries are due April 23. She is currently recruiting poetry judges. The <br /> Commissioners received a copy of the contest timeline. <br /> Superintendent Centeno noted that the Committee wanted to hold the <br /> awards program in the Council Chambers which were not available the <br /> regular Commission meeting night. <br /> M/S Dale/Schenone: To move our June meeting to Wednesday, June 2 to be <br /> held in the City Council Chambers. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> M/S Dale/Del Carlo: To extend an official letter of invitation to our Sister <br /> Cities and ask for art work from Mexico and China elementary school <br /> students (up to 8 pieces of visual art); the art work will be exhibited with our <br /> art contest winners. <br /> Motion passed <br /> ITEM 4 — PUBLIC ART PRESENTATION — RUTH WATERS <br /> Ruth Waters showed a slide presentation of public art located in various <br /> cities around the world and discussed its positive and negative impacts. She <br /> also spoke about the public art she viewed on her recent trip to China. The <br /> Commissioners thanked Ms. Waters for her slide presentation. <br />
