i� <br /> Civic Cultural Commission Page 2 <br /> Minutes of August 5, 1999 <br /> ITEM 1 — SMAlL GRANT RE�UESTS <br /> -Casa de Redwood ' <br /> Pete Hughes of Casa de Redwood spoke regarding their $500.00 grant <br /> request to fund two winter concerts for the residents of the HUD facility. He <br /> stated that the concerts will probably be held in February and March and are <br /> intended to increase the quality of life for Casa de Redwood residents and <br /> others who wish to attend. Commissioner Britschgi inquired about asking <br /> seniors from Woodside Terrace to attend the concerts and Mr. Hughes said <br /> he would contact the Fair Oaks Senior Center to see if their participants <br /> would like to attend the concerts. He stated approximately 40 Casa de <br /> Redwood residents attend each concert. <br /> -Redwood City Kiwanis Farmers Market <br /> Dr. Norman Shapiro spoke regarding the S900.00 grant request to fund 18 <br /> to 20 musical events for the 1999 Farmers Market. He stated the musical <br /> groups are stationary and strolting and have been well received by the public <br /> according to a survey done at the Farmers Market. Dr. Shapiro stated the <br /> Farmers Market is held May to November each year and the proceeds of the <br /> market are used to purchase clothes for needy children. <br /> -Sequoia Art Group <br /> No one from the Sequoia Art Group appeared to make a presentation. <br /> Superintendent Centeno will call them to follow up. <br /> -Raiser Resources <br /> Erin Raiser spoke regarding their request for 5999.00 to provide <br /> entertainment for six events in the City Center Plaza. A list of scheduled <br /> events was provided to the Commissioners. She spoke about how the <br /> events will be organized and presented. <br /> M/S Britschgi/Saye: To grant $500.00 to Casa de Redwood. <br /> �otion passed unanimously. <br /> M/S Saye/Britschgi: To grant $900.00 to the Redwood City Kiwanis <br /> Farmers Market. <br /> Commissioner Britschgi suggested obtaining matching funds in the future for <br /> this event. <br /> Motion passed. (Yes-5, No-1 Dei Carlo) <br /> M/S Del GarlolSaye: To table the grant request of the Sequoia Art Group <br /> until September. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> MIS SayelDel Carlo: To grant S999.00 to Raiser Resources. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> ITEM 2 — SUB-COMMiTTEE REPORTS <br /> -Budget <br /> Nothing to report at this time. <br />
