Civic Cultural Commission Page 3 <br /> Minutes of August 5, 1999 <br /> -Children and Schoois <br /> Nothing to report at this time. <br /> -CCC Sponsored Everrts <br /> Superintendent Centeno asked the Commissioners to look at selecting the <br /> future location of the 2000 Summer Concert Series since both Stafford and <br /> Red Morton Parks are good sites for the event. Commissioner Pierce offered <br /> to develop a survey to be completed by concert attendees to see which park <br /> site is most preferable for the concert series. Over 400 people attended last <br /> night's concert at Red Morton Park. <br /> -Planning <br /> Commissioner Pierce stated she is still working on the report. <br /> -Public Art <br /> Commissioner Pierce suggested asking the City Council to consider the <br /> establishment of a public art fund. This sub-committee will meet and bring <br /> back a recommendation to the September meeting. Commissioner Pierce <br /> suggested having Nick Watry come speak to the Commission on this topic. <br /> Commissioner Britschgi said she will be out of town on September 25 for the <br /> ArtShare "Sound-Off" event and asked for one or several Commissioners to <br /> attend in her place. She agreed to call a sub-committee meeting prior to the <br /> September meeting to deal with the Commission's participation in this event. <br /> ITEM 3 - EVALUATION OF CULTURAL EVENTS HELD OVER THE PAST 30 <br /> DAYS <br /> -Commissioner Saye attend "Oklahoma!" at Foothill College and noted the <br /> excellent venue. <br /> -Commissioner Britschgi attended a sidewalk art display and an all day craft <br /> fair in Lake Tahoe. <br /> -Commissioner Del Carto visited the Degas exhibit in New Orleans, the Rose <br /> Garden in Portland, and saw "Bye Bye Birdie' at the Fox. <br /> -Commissioner Pierce also attended the "Bye Bye Birdie" performance at the <br /> Fox Theater. <br /> -Chairperson Redington apologized for missing the last meeting due to health <br /> issues and thanked Vice Chairperson Britschgi for filling in for him. <br /> Items for next meeting: grant request from Sequoia Art Group, information <br /> on Sound-Off, consideration of establishment of public art fund, report on Tis <br /> the Season. <br /> ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> -Commissioner Pierce announced she is running for City Council and will be <br /> having a campaign kick-off event on September 25 from 5:00-7:30pm. <br /> The regular meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was adjourned at <br /> 8:31 pm to be reconvened at 7:OOpm on Thursday, September 2, 1999 at <br /> the Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, <br /> California. <br />
